In 1958, established in Bandung, West Java with the name Bank Pegawai Pensiunan Militer (Bapemil).
In 1960, obtained license to become a commercial bank.
In 1986, changed its name into Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional.
In 2008, BTPN became a publicly listed company with an asset base of IDR 13.7 Trillion.
In 2009, launched Micro & Small business line, with the opening of 539 branch offices and a credit growth of IDR 2.3 trillion in one year and obtained a long term debt facility in Rupiah from International Finance Corporation, a subsidiary of World Bank.
The crafting of BTPN's mission, vision and values began in 2009, and encompassed input and participation from employees at all levels in the bank. The goal was to build a sustainable business which contributes to the well-being of fellow Indonesians and thereby to the development of the nation.
In 2010, became the 10th largest bank in terms of market capitalization, 5th largest bank in terms of number of branch office and 6th largest in terms of number of employees.
In 2011, launched "Daya", a sustainable and measurable mass market enablement program that empowers the mass market.
Bank BTPN has achieved various prestigious awards, and the new one's is Best Performance Banking 2012 for banks with assets IDR 5 - 50 trillion in Indonesia Banking Award, by Perbanas Institute.
The bank is also achieved The Top 50 Companies For 2012 in Best of The Best Awards 2012, by Forbes Indonesia Magazine, and Platinum Trophy 2012, for excellent financial performance in 10 consecutive years, by Infobank Magazine, and much others.
Today Bank BTPN lead by Prof. Dorodjatun Kuntjoro Jakti Ph.D as President Commissioner and Ongki Wanadjati Dana held as President Director.
